80% of deaths from heart disease are preventable and understanding your risk factors can help you manage a prevention strategy with your GP. The more risk factors you have the higher your chances of developing cardiovascular disease. Many of these risk factors are within your control and can be reduced or eliminated altogether. Use the information and resources on these pages to understand the risks you can change and those you can’t.

Risks You Can't Change

Some factors do increase your risk of heart-related issues, and unfortunately not much can be done about them. But that’s ok! It is important to know what they are and understand how they affect other factors that can minimise risk.

Prevention
