Dr Luke Perry is the Head of Research, Cardiac Anaesthesia Division, Victorian Heart Hospital, and the Director of Cardiothoracic Research at the Victorian Heart Institute. He is a practicing clinician in cardiac anaesthesia, a 2025 NHMRC and Heart Foundation Postgraduate Scholar, and has obtained $5.4 million in competitive funding in the last 2 years. His research addresses sex-based inequalities after cardiac surgery, including breakthrough studies showing that women receive less analgesia than men, and the world’s first clinical trial in cardiac surgery for women only. He is partnering with Her Heart to co-develop novel strategies to improve women’s representation in cardiac clinical trials.
