Dr Sarena La is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Adelaide University, supported by the National Heart Foundation’s South Australian Kick Start Fellowship. Her research focuses on angina/ischaemia with non-obstructive coronary arteries (ANOCA/INOCA), particularly the experiences and cardiovascular health needs of women.

Dr La’s research explores patient-reported experiences, women-specific factors that may influence symptoms, and strategies to improve quality of life and care. She works closely with people with lived experience through a partnership with the International Heart Spasms Alliance, including the Your Heart Speaks Survey Program, bringing patient voices directly into cardiovascular research. As an early-career researcher, she is passionate about improving recognition, understanding and care of conditions that disproportionately affect women and have historically been under-recognised.
