Dr Luke Perry is Head of Research in the Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at Victorian Heart Hospital and a Senior Research Fellow at Monash University.

He is a practising clinician in cardiac anaesthesia, a 2025 NHMRC and Heart Foundation Postgraduate Scholar and has secured $12 million in competitive funding over the past three years.

His research addresses sex-based inequalities following cardiac surgery, including breakthrough studies showing that women receive less analgesia than men, as well as the world’s first clinical trial in cardiac surgery exclusively for women.

He is partnering with Her Heart to co-develop novel strategies to improve women’s representation in cardiac clinical trials.
